How did I do?
Okay, Everybody I want feedback on how I did for intake today. I have been having troubles getting in fluids and supplements and I must really be held accountable everyday for doing the right things. Here is what I did today (actually, this was one of the best days I have had but it was difficult staying on track).
Protein Shake: 8 oz of FF LF Milk (8g P) mixed in with 1 cup ice chips and Protein powder (21g P)
40 oz water (boy was that an effort!)
4 oz refried beans with FF cheese and FF S.C. (total 10g P)
3 oz chunk chicken (finely ground) w/ FF Mayo and Relish (8 g P)
8 oz ff lf milk
That totals 64 oz fluids (YEA ) 56g Protein, plus I did all my supplements (yea, even the crappy Iron).
Do I pass? Will this get any easier to manage, or will I have to think this hard forever?
Thanks for the input and any ideas on how to make this come more natural. I thought I would get away from thinking about food every minute of the day, but not so far.

Jackie,
Not bad if you are counting your ice as 8 oz fluid. Don't actually know the water equivalent if it melts. Actually, not bad all together. You will eventually be able to add a few fruits or veggies if your dietician recommends what mine does.
Keep up the good work - even the supplements and fluids! Did you call your doctor, by the way????
It will eventually get easier when you learn what you can and can not have.
God bless,
Andrea
Andrea,
Wellllll, How about I make that call tomorrow, the last two days got away from me. I know your going to come and kick my a**. I really will tomorrow, I promise. I did about the same today as yesterday, so maybe I have got the drinking thing figured out? The trick is a really big jug that keeps the water cool and I can take with me wherever I go.
I bought some melon the other day, but it just sets in the fridge because I can't see eating that (even though I want to) when it doesn't have any protein. I wonder what it would be like to blend some LF FF milk, protein powder, and fruit (melon) and make a melon smothie? Has anyone tried this sort of thing? How does it taste?
Good luck with the walk this weekend, I almost joined you but I have to go to Topeka, KS this weekend to take care of a little family problem. Let me know about the next one, I want to meet you and do a walk!

Hi Jackie,
Almost good enough to please Dr G & staff. Fluids are fine, except if you're going to be building fence again. Anytime it's hot & you're going to be sweating, you'll need more fluids.
Protein is a tiny bit low. I know, you're very early yet so don't be too concerned but they do want us to get at least 60 grams. It will get easier as you are able to eat more stuff. It is important to get enough. I thought I was doing great until I got my tests results back. My protein was too low & I now have to get in 70 grams.
You're doing just great!

Dixie,
I like it when you respond because you know what Dr G expects. I am working on really getting both the protein and fluids up, I want to do this right and not have any problems. Does it get easier when you move on to the next stage? I almost think it will be harder, at least getting in the fluids. The more I eat the less I want to drink. The no drinking 30 min. before and 45 min after makes it difficult to get in all the fluids if I even eat 3 times a day. Some people say to try to eat 4 - 6 times, how could one get fluids in?
Thank you for the encouragement and guidance!

It is easier getting in the fluids than it is to eat at least that is my situation. I would rather drink than eat. But we have to eat to keep our protein levels up. Do not eat 4-6 times a day unless dr. Glas****s office tells you to. If you are lacking in protein and need a snack Angela told me some soy nuts would be high in protein. Drink milk every glass of milk you drink is 7 grams of protein and just add powdered milk for an extra boost of protein. If you are feeling you are not getting in enough you can always see the dietician. Dr G office is always so kind so don't be afraid to call them and ask them questions they want you to succeed. Kim
Jackie,
It will get easier. Right now you are really limited to what you can eat. Pretty soon you'll be on regular foods and can eat things that will help you get enough protein. I believe at your stage I ate lots of cottage cheese & yogurt. You can add protein powder to the yogurt, although I wouldn't get too carried away. It can make it pretty thick &, in my opinion, kind of nasty.
Keep your chin up & remember we are here for you.
