Good morning all, How was your 4th of July? Ours was okay and quite busy. How did you do on goals last week? I did okay. Walked 5 days and even increased walking on Friday to 4 miles. Looking forward to the race/walk this coming Saturday. I had an appointment with the physical therapist, dietician, surgeon and psychologist last week for 6 month check-ups (a little late). They all went well. As of last Monday, June 29th, I am down 112 pounds - lost 10.5 pounds since increasing my walking. Yippee!! I feel so good about myself and the exercising, just not about sometimes still losing control over eating. So, my goals for the week are: 1) Watch food intake and those times that I feel out of control 2) Keep logging my food intake 3) Establish eating times as per my psychologist 4) Exercise 5 times this week and include strength training 3 times 5) Survive the walk/race on Saturday 6) Quit trying s/f things that I know will make me sick. Stick to hard candies and s/f popsicles. (Definitely no more "no sugar added" moose tracks from Whitey's) Well, let's hear your goals for the week! God bless, Andrea

My lofty goal last week was not to I didn't! Almost but close only counts in horseshoes and hand granades. Goal for this week: 1. Increase fluids from 64 to 84. 2. Curb the munchies after work. 3. Exercise more

Lyn, So glad that you did not get sick last week. Have you determined what is making you sick? Is it a certain food? It is so much easier to drink fluids when you are not nauseated -- I know that for a fact. When I overeat or eat something that doesn't sit well, then I can't drink anything for a long time. About those munchies, do you chew gum? I chew gum sometimes to keep me from eating. It works for me. Good luck and God bless, Andrea

Hello all, I took a look at last weeks goals (needed a reminder of what I said), well, let's just say I better do the same for this week since I didn't achieve any of them but the last one . Here they are: 1. Get fluids in!!!!! 2. Walk, or use the air walker in my spare room! 3. Get boxes so I can organize my room (old clothes, new clothes, old school work, new school work, papers, papers, papers--I don't think I have tossed a paper out since I started my Masters program 2 years ago) 4. Don't obsess over the scale--it will happen (Could I be the first person to fail at this?--This is the platue I hit and then things go sour for me) 5. Have faith in myself--and you all!! I am having a terrible time getting in the fluids (I know, it is soooo important, but it just is not happening--I will work harder on it, especially since I blacked out today and the neighbor had to pick me up and get me some water. Moral of that story is don't put up llama fence in the heat by yourself if you are not drinking enough water!!) Also, I just have been lazy about the walking (my dog wants to bite me, for breaking another promise--she loves to walk--for that matter so do I, but the bugs!) Also, I keep forgetting to get boxes. No good reason for this, but a AC did go out up stairs and I don't really want to work up there in the heat. But am buying a new AC on payday, so there goes that excuse. I know the scale won't move if I don't get the fluids, and the excercise in, so I best get my butt in gear. I don't know why the lazy me is back, but I am soon gonna have a "Come to Jesus Meeting" with myself and do this right. Pray for me! I really am motivated to do this. TTFN Jackie G

All right, girl, now I am worried. You HAVE to get your fluids in. I myself have been having dizzy spells, and labs and blood pressure are fine. Doc said that it is probably lack of hydration. But you blacked out. You CAN NOT DO THAT!!! If you don't take care of yourself, I'm gonna tattle on you. I will call your doc or someone. (In all seriousness, you should call your doc and alert him to what happened anyway.) Now, instead of putting up a fence in the heat, take a brisk walk first thing in the morning, (when it's cooler). It gets the metabolism going and the body kicked into gear. (TAKE WATER WITH YOU!!!) We have faith in you, now you have to have faith in yourself. You can do it. Be sure to post otr e-mail midweek if you are having probs with your goals. We are here for you! Have a great week and God bless, Andrea

Andrea, PLEASE, PLEASE! Don't tattle on me. (My doctor won't give me a ride on his bike, if I don't follow the rules!!) I really worked on getting the fluids in yesterday (did better but still about 10oz short). I will achieve the 64 oz today! I just have to remember to ALWAYS have a drink in my hand. I am staying out of the heat until I get my fluids under control (I don't want to lose any through sweat and evaporation when I don't have any to spear). So my dog will have to look at me with a scowl on her face as I use my air walker. I am calling the dr. office today, to just let them know what is going on and to get permission to travel. I have to go to KS to straighten out a family mess, then I want to go on a trip with my husband in his truck for about 2 weeks and want to make sure I am good to go. I don't see any reason why I can't do those things. I am working on developing a Word Document to use to track all the important things I need to get in every day when I get it finished I will send a copy to anybody who wants one, just e-mail me and I will send it. I want to be able to track that I am getting at least 64 oz of fluids, all my supplements, and proteins, also I want space to write in what I have eaten and how it felt (maybe even a place to record how I felt each day). Hopefully I will have this finished today. I think if I do more tracking I will be more aware of what I am doing (or not doing). Thank you for the concern and the kick in the butt! I know I can do this! TTFN Jackie G

Jackie, I want a copy of that log!! Are you putting a place on it to count calories, grams of protein, calcium, whatever? We are expecting to hear what the doctor had to say today! No prob on giving the kick in the butt - that's what I'm here for We all need that kick every once in a while! God bless, Andrea
