Are you taking your iron in the evening with your vitamin C? this is the prime time to take this. If you cannot tolerate juice try mixing it in some propel water or gatorade. You need to avoid dairy products or calcium with the iron to ensure proper absorption. Thats why we are to space our medications. The b12 and vitamin in am and calcium during the day and vitamin in the evening and your vitamin C and iron at bedtime. The vitamin c also helps our bodies better absorb the iron. You really need your iron. I believe I read where you can go to Gnc and get sublingual B12 and it is flavored if I recall what I read. They will be doing labs and will be able to tell where we are lacking. Your body is not taking in the nutrients like we use to so I guess the thought of not taking it scares me. I don't feel so great either after I drink my iron but I know I have to do it to stay healthy. If you want email me at any time and I can call or meet you if you have questions only live 7 miles from Dunkerton. Hope this helps.

Actually iron is best on an empty stomach taken with vitamin C. If you are taking prescription iron or iron in a pill form instructions are given that you should not lay down within 30 minutes of taking it so evening may not be the best time. With liquid iron it may be different, but if you doctor said to take it in the evening follow his/her instructions. Sublingual B12 is available at GNC and it is cherry flavored. I've noticed that a lot of you on this board are less than a year out from surgery. My brother had an RNY in March at Genesis so I pop in here once in a while to see what's new in Iowa. These supplements are VERY important to your long term health. I had great labs for over two years and then EVERYTHING headed south. My B12 bottomed out at 132 and my iron was so low that I developed iron deficiant anemia that required IV iron infusions for 36 straight days. Good lab work now does not guarantee good lab work in the future and because of the malabsorption it's a lot more difficult to build the levels back up once they have dropped low.
