Hi Melissa, My surgeons office recommended Dr Wellso. He was real easy to get an appointment with, I think from my phone call to the appointment was not even a week's wait. It took about 45 mins and he is a very pleasant older gentleman. Judy

Hi Judy, If you dont mind, how much did you pay for this, and what did you do?

Well the consult was $236.00. I had it turned into my BCBS Alliance Select even though they don't cover what is termed behavioral conditions. I also have general anxiety disorder and was hoping to sneak it by under that. I just got back the denial today so I am going to ask the office to resubmit under the other diagnosis code, instead of using the "eating disorder" code. I've been doing medical billing for 21 years and there are few tricks of the trade. LOL! My educated guess is that many insurance companys will not cover it because they will feel it is a behavioral assessment and not actually a pyschiatric diagnosis. As far as what the consult was, it was basically sitting across the desk from the doc and answering questions about how long you've been overweight, what methods you have tried to loose weight, are other members of your family overweight, how was your childhood, etc. and how has being overweight affected your life in different ways. Then he throws in questions like what year is it, who is the president, what's going on in the world now, and my favorite - what does "a stitch in time saves nine" mean? Oh and you had to remember a list of 4 items and count by 7's backward (I came dang close to failing this part LOL! Math without a calculator is just not my thing!) The basic stuff to make sure you are coherant, heehee. Anyway it was all very low key and not a bit stressful. Take care! Judy
