Getting better

Boy, I've had a rough 6 days. Had the one drain and staples taken out last Thurs. Almost immediatley developed a skin allergy to the brown sticky stuff used to keep the steri-strips on. Red, itchy, miserable. Then Friday just didn't feel well. Sat had temp of 101. Went to ER Sunday. Had a high white count. On call surgeon put me on antibiotics and had to call office yesterday. Had to go back to hospital for more labs, still high and an abdominal CT. That was okay. Surgeon finally decided to take out the G tube early when I threatened to hurt him if he poked in that spot again. I had an infection around the top of the G tube. I feel much better today. Still whipped, but at least I don't feel like I'm gonna die. Wasn't too sure of that yesterday morning. Now I'm just dealing with the nasty gush of stomach acid from the hole. I sure hope that closes up soon. It doesn't feel too good on that rash. Eating has been okay. Today I had refried beans and boy did they taste good. Never liked them much before! Oh Lyn: I really feel for you. I glad your feeling better. The stage your in is hard enough without the infection. It will get easier and better with time. Boy, I know what you mean about foods you never cared much about becoming wonderful. My taste buds seemed to have made a dramatic turn over the last three months. I think that my favorite food my be Mexican now. I never used to care for it very much. I hope you get better and better. Good luck being one with the recliner, I became very attached to mine. Hi Lyn, Sorry about the infection they are no fun that's for sure. Glad you are feeling better. So glad my drain is gone I have allergies with the tape & the itching has driven me crazy! Just take it easy for right now so you can heal. I had the weirdest cravings before I was able to eat "real" food, ham salad was at the top of my list! Take it easy. Carolyn
