Andrea, she had this surgery and she wrote a book on it....people say the book is great. i couldnt afford it this time.....she talks about her life before surgery and after surgery......really if you can go see her you will like it.....lynda

Is this for pre-op and post-op? Do you have the details? I am pre op and have only been to one support group. I have learned alot on the Internet but actually hearing people talk about it is more helpful for me personally. Thank You and Congrats on your success, Melissa

this is for anyone thinking of having it and for having it....there was a lot of people there that are looking into surgery....she has a website also.....if you want i can email you the information.....she has news letters that come out twice a month....i can also send you another site for gastric bypass surgery. if you want to talk sometime about surgery i would love to talk to you about it......so will anyone on here that is post op...............good luck on your journey......lynda

Barbara wrote one of the best books about WLS & much of her talk is fromthe book. She is very motivating and just plain fun to listen to. Her talk is for both pre-ops & post-ops as well as family members. She spoke in Waterloo in October to a very full house. I have a question about the cook book. Is it the one by Chef David Fouts that she has on her website? I have it & am not real impressed. It has good recipes but I was hoping for something more aimed to WLS patients instead of low carb recipes. Oh her website is wlscenter.com Dixie

I also saw Barbara when she spoke in Waterloo last fall. She was an awesome speaker. I had just begun my trek of researching etc and she just reinforced my decision. If you can get somewhere to see her, you won't be sorry.
