DENIED

Received my letter of denial today. Denied due to "lack of doctor supervised diet and weight monitoring". Suppose to have 26 weeks. I started Weigh****chers in January, with my PCP's knowledge and approval. So hopefully when I submit that, with the appeal, it will suffice. My PCP is all for the surgery so I know I will have her full support. WLS is not excluded in my policy, so there is hope. I must say, that even though I thought I was mentally prepared for the denial, it was quite an emotional let down. I haven't cried, yet...... First I was mad, then frustrated, then saddened. But have decided Monday starts a new week and I will pursue the appeal with a positive attitude! Thanks for listening. I have to say that a lot of my positive attitude comes from knowing that I am not the only one to go through this.

Hang in there Sheila. Twenty six weeks is just 6 months so you are getting pretty close anyway. Talk with Dr G's office & see if you can start getting the testing done so you are that far ahead when you get your approval letter. Don't know if they will let you do that but it can't hurt to ask. Sorry to hear that you are going through a rough patch, Sheila. Hang in there hon and don't give up. Heck, it sounds like your 26 weeks is almost done anyway. Keep up with the positive attitude! God bless, Andrea

Sheila, I went thru the same thing. Hang in there. One of things I try to remember to tell people is to start a Dr. supervised diet ASAP so they have that much more time under their belts if they do get denied. Don't be afraid to ask if you need help with the appeal info. Lots of us have been thru it. Elizabeth
