I know a lady who had a little more swelling than most and had a problem with her stoma (where the intestines hook to the new stomach) being too small because of the swelling. The kept her on iv fluids until the swelling decreased and then she started being able to keep down water and did fine. This might not be anything severe.. i would try not to let it bother you too much. Her stoma might be a little smaller than most and she might have to end up having it stretched after she is a little further out post op. This is not a serious procedure..it is done on an outpatient basis, and they just go down with a scope and stretch the stoma to make it a little larger. I know 5 people who had to have that done and they are doing great now! ~~Dawn Phillips
