update on my Mom
Hi all, sorry I didn't post last night, but I was so exhausted. Mom's surgery went well and she was on the ventilator only 6 hours. That is amazing since she has COPD and severe asmtha (sp?) She is one of those people that has to do a breathing treatment every 4 hours and wears oxygen at night. So we were very happy she was able to be off the vent so quick. She must be feeling ok because she knew where she was, what year it was, and if anyone got the number of the train that hit her! (never wonder again where I get my sense of humor from!) She will have to be inthe hospital for at least a week, but MIGHT be out of the CCU/ICU unit as soon as today. (Fri) They only had to replace one valve, the Mitral. The surgeon said it had a hole in it the size of the tip of his pinky and what was left was shredded. He said she was lucky to still be alive, let alone be healthy enough to have this surgery without it being an emergency. I guess all those prayers made sure the angels were paying attention and kept a close eye on her. Thank you. Better go, going down tp DesMOines early again today.
Thanks again,
(((HUGS)))
