Has anyone ever had a pelvic ultrasound? If so .. how long did it take? I wont find out the results until monday, but I'm concerned because it took 15 minutes longer than they said it was going to take..and the chicky who did it acted like she was really concentrating on the right side. (that's where i've been having more pain). I'm going to go crazy this weekend waiting to see what's wrong (if anything is). ~Dawn

Hi Dawn- What kind of pain are you having on your right side? By pelvic ultrasound, do you mean the kind where they put the big thing with a condom inside you to take a look? (yikes!) Anyway, I had an ultrasound like that early on for a couple of my pregnancies. Don't worry that it took longer- sometimes it's hard for them to see, like if your bladder is or isn't full- things kind of move around. Could you have an ovarian cyst? I've had them before and they cause pain on one side. Try not to worry too much this weekend- we're thinking of you. Let us know what you find out Monday. Take care, Lori

I don't know if this is what you had but before my surgery I had to have a routine ultrasound to check my gallbladder. After doing that she talked to the radiologist & then told me she was to check the bladder & kidneys and the pelvic area. It took a long time & she pressed really hard. I had bruises! Turned out she saw "something" & needed to look further. They couldn't tell what she saw so I also had to have a CT scan. Turned out to be a tumor growing off of one of my ovaries. Fortunately, it was benign. I am in my 50's so they did a hysterectomy & after recovering for 3 months, I had my RNY. I also wonder if you have a cyst or perhaps a fibroid. Let us know what you find out. I'll be thinking about you & sending up good thoughts. Dixie

With a person of size it is ALWAYS a good idea to do a vaginal ultrasound. That is were they stick the probe inside you to have a look around. I have to have an ultrasound and a biopsy ever 3 months because I have hyperdysplasia and lesions on my uterus which were considered precancerous. 6 months ago, before my surgery, my ob/gyn was recommending a hysterectomy. After loosing 80 pounds my condition has improved dramatically. When I had my appointment last week, the doc even told me I could think about getting pregnant in a year or so if I wanted to and my weight had stabalized by then. That news alone made the whole surgery worth it, to me. Sandra
