Well, I passed, sort of. He did approve me for WLS. He said I have an anxiety disorder. Like, who doesn't in this day and age? And it causes my pain (I have fibromyalgia). I thought he was a pompous you know what. He said I should strongly consider therapy. I told him flat out it wouldn't be him since it's a 45 min drive. He told me he had a 50 patient waiting list, like I'm suppose to be impressed. When I asked the significance of the "I'd like to be a forest ranger" question, he told me that he couldn't explain something in a few minutes that took 4 yrs of grad school to learn. I think he just didn't know the answer!
He told me that I like to please those in authority over me. Then he told me about the anxiety/pain thing. So I decided to please him and told him I could see where that might me true. Didn't have a clue I was pulling his chain.
I am so bad. Tomorrow I call the surgeon's office to see what's next. One more hurdle behind me. My hubby said I didn't need a shrink to tell me I was anxious. He could have told him that!

Oh, yeah, it was Martin. You know, he didn't even shake my hand or introduce himself to me. I have a friend, Frances, who had surgery in December and she said the same thing about him. I just glad I didn't know then what I know now. I wonder if he ever finds anyone "normal"? Gee, if he did, they probably wouldn't be overweight and needing surgery to lose it. Now I'll be stuck with the diagnosis of anxiety disorder.
He had the nerve to tell me that since my anxiety causes my pain, that if I had nausea, it would be worse that most, if I had pain, it would be worse than most, if I had complications, it would be worse than most. And he has a fixation about Thanksgiving dinner and never being able to eat it again. I wanted to puke. From my research, after about 6 months you can eat almost everything, except maybe the pie, in small portions. I wish my fat cells would attack him!
Anyway, it's over, and I never have to see him again unless he shows up at the support group meetings.
