Approval Pending!

I am in shock. My surgeon sent my paperwork to Empire Blue last Friday or yesterday. I got a call today saying that BC wanted the psych eval done before approving it. In my mind, that means if that is okay, they will approve! It took me 6 weeks to get them to pay for a prescription after about a dozen phone calls and several letters from my doc. I go Thursday to see if I'm crazy or not. Any info any one can give me on what to expect from the psych eval would be appreciated. Lyn

Lyn: When I had my psych eval, I had to do a 500+ question test, called a MMPI (Minnesota Mutiphasic Personality Inventory) It was kind of repetitive, asking me some of the questions over and over! It is supposed to look for mental illnessses, ect. I also took a test that looks for eating disorders. I talked to a psychologist too. She asked questions about why I want the surgery, how I'll have to eat after the surgery, stuff like that. All together, it took a little over 3 hours. Good luck!! DeeAnn

Okay, that sounds about right. I know I have to take 2 tests and talk to the doc. I'm not as freaked out about it now. That helped a lot. Thanks! Lyn
