Lactitol????? Any info?
I ate some Reeses Peanut Butter cups (s/f) last night and had stomach cramps afterwards. Of course, I will not be buying them again because I can't control my eating yet, but does anyone know anything about lactitol? It says on the package that it is an artificial sweetener. Wondering if that is what hurt my tummy.
Thanks,
God bless,
Andrea
Reese's are made by Hershey, right? I haven't had surgery (waiting for approval) and I had some SF Hersheys. Boy, was I ever sick! The Russell Stover SF stuff doesn't bother me but the Hersheys sure did. I have a friend *****acted the same way and so did my hubby. Nasty stuff, and yes, it is an alcohol sugar.
Thanks for the warning about the s/f pbuter cups, I bought a bag but have not had the guts (litterally to try them). If you are hungry for some chocolatey dessert, Hy-Vee stores carry Robins nest cakes. They are like a jelly roll made with cream cheese with NO sugar content. They have carrot cake, chocolate, and raspberry flavors. They are about $6.
Also the peanut butter cookie recipe made with 1c pb, 1c splenda, 1 egg are fantastic. I made them used only 1/4 c splenda and they were yummy. I also spoke to my dietician about the sugar alcohol (lactilol, manitolol, etc and she said they really are not a good thing to get started on and that the reason for cramping is they cause a laxative effect on our bowels. Hope any this helps.
