surgery cancelled!
Just to let you all know that after 2 weeks of clear liquids and almost ready (day of)to start the dreadded bowl clean out , my surgery has been cancelled until I pass a kidney stone! If I haven't passed it by March 23rd then I go back to see the kidney Dr. to see if they will zapp it.
Then I can re-schedual and start the two week liquid diet all over again!
Funny how life goes!!!!
Thank goodness I have Dr.s that care about me and are looking out for my well being!
Please keep me in your prayers for now and I will keep you all posted!

Cheri,
I am so sorry this happened and especially after getting through your 2 weeks of liquids. If it helps any, you aren't alone. I learned my surgery had to be postponed 3 days into my liquids. A mass had been detected when I had the ultrasound & Dr G said it had to be removed before he would do the surgery. I absolutely hated him for that! It's a good thing I got the word over the phone because I don't know what I would have done if he told me face to face.
Now, I know it was the best thing for me & I no longer hold any hard feelings. My health is so much better & I am sure that my recovery went better because I didn't have that nasty thing there anymore. By the way, it was benign. He knew what he was doing.
Don't worry, you won't be put at the end of the line. Jenny will get you scheduled as soon as they feel you are up to having the surgery. Since I had to recover from my hysterectomy, I had to wait 11 weeks. It will be much shorter for you. Perhaps, they also won't make you go a whole 2 weeks more of liquids. The idea of the liquids is to make you lose fat around your liver. You have probably done that so if you can keep most of that weight off, between now & your surgery, that will be good. Course, I'm not Dr G.
Good luck passing your stone. Keep us informed.

Cheri:
I am so sorry to hear that surgery was cancelled but he does want you in the best of health and passing that kidney stone is important. I am just so glad to hear they caught it before they did the surgery. But on the other hand I feel for you with the liquid diet. I completed my two week liquid diet, had surgery on March 1st and am still doing the liquid diet. If all goes well I'll be able to taste real food on the 15th. It's been one of the most difficult things to do but I have lost 29 lbs. through it all and that feels good.
So hang in there and keep us posted on that pesky kidney stone.
Take care,
Gail
