Need recipes
I forgot to ask on my last post, does anyone know of some good recipes for fairly newbie post ops. I am so hungry for something with meat in it but can't stand puree or baby food kind just the thought makes me gag. I have been eating a LOT of yogurt and cottage cheese and potatoes with cheese, I tried scrambled eggs but then I can't eat anything the rest of the day as it makes me sick. So any ideas for something that will satisfy the craving for meat. I even tried some baked fish but was sick for the day with that. ALso any type of dessert recipe I have been scouring the stores for any sugar free dessert ideas. Thanks
At around 4-5 weeks I had Wendy's Chili. Refried beans with melted cheese and alittle salsa is also good. I liked oatmeal and cream of wheat with milk and splenda on it. I also made meatballs with ground turkey. (be sure to chew well) Tuna salad made with fat free miracle whip went down pretty well. (make sure it has enough miracle whip on it to make it really moist)
Don't worry about the eggs, I am 4 months out and still can't eat eggs.
Get canned chicken and tunaa....make tuna and chicken salad and eat it with crackers.....my tummy loves it...also crackers with peanut butter....have you tried like crab cakes??? Walmart has them in the seafood counter .....they are frozen (cheap too) and I just nuke one for 1 minute and it turns out good with no ill effects on my pouch......I too get sick from eggs.....and Chicken......but for some reason I can do chicken salad with lowfat hellmans.....Good Luck Jesi
Leslea, I don't know what stage of diet you are at right now, but one thing that I still eat a lot is the canned corned beef (not the hash), microwave it a little to soften it and mix in a little sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, and sometimes dehydrated onion. Mix this all up well, then eat on crackers or just right out of the bowl. It is good either warm or cold. The corned beef has like 14 g. protein in just 2 oz. then you get some more in the sour cream.
You said you tried scrambled eggs, but have you tried them hard boiled? I can't eat scrambled either, but I can eat them poached, fried, and hard boiled. If you can eat them boiled, then mix it in with your chicken or tuna for different flavor to your salad. Remember the protein in eggs is in the whites, the cholesterol is in the yolk. The yolk is usually what bothers me. BF laughs at me when he gets 2 fried eggs with 2 extra yolks cause I have stolen the whites! LOL
Are you allowed toast? One thing that helped my sweet tooth early post-op was toast with a little margarine, cinnamon, and splenda.

Leslea-
Sugar-free Jello pudding is great made with skim milk. It tastes just like the sugar stuff and really makes you feel like you're getting a treat. You also get the protein from the milk. Also- I eat a lot of sugar free popcicles. Have you tried ground beef yet? I ate it pretty early on with chili powder- sprinkle some shredded cheese and a dab of sour cream. When you get the go ahead for lettuce it's a great taco salad- put some ripe avacado on it and it's tasty! Things really will get better and better- keep your spirits up!
