Pressure that comes with the changes

I have had my surgery date for a while, March 12th. I am getting myself ready for this change and trying to get my mind set ready for it to but I was just given a great blow to life. I am living with my mother and step father, they are helping me through college and supporting my son and I. This weekend I found out that they are splitting up. My dad is staying until I get home from surgery and then he is leaving. I really don't know what to say to the both of them or what to do, this just brings more pressure on me and my son. My step father has been in my life for almost 20 years of my life and he has been the only male figure in my sons life for the past 3 1/2 years. I guess I am using this as a vent. I just don't know if this is going to change my life for the good or bad and how it is going to effect my surgery healing. !!!! What to do!!!????

Kimberly, Don't let this set you back. It sounds like you love your parents love you & you love them very much. It also sounds like your stepfather love you enough to stay till after you have your surgery. You have to remember that he & your mom are breaking up, he's not severing ties with you & your son.
