Excited to find this site!

Hey everyone! I just had RY surgery at Mercy Capitol in Des Moines. My surgery date was 1-5-04, and I am down 45lbs already! I can't believe how great I feel. I love to talk to others who have had the surgery. Their success stories really help me keep motivated. I also like to talk to others who are considering surgery. I think this surgery was a very personal choice, but I sure would be willing to share my experiences thus far. Anyway, I can't wait until I can fit into the rides at Adventureland again. I started out at 315lbs, wearing a size 30 pants. I now can fit into a size 26, and that already feels like a miracle. I wonder what the teen sizes will feel like. Anyway, I look forward to talking with all of you.

Hi Sharon, What a wonderful job your doing on your weight loss! Way to go!! Welcome to this great site! Us Iowans are very supportive so you will find lots of stories and support here. I had my surgery with Dr. Schwartz in Grinnell November 3, 2003. I am currently down 61 pounds and feel like a new person! I think you'll find everyone here is really supportive, full of answers - although sometimes not ones we want to hear, LOL! - and even pretty good shoulder(ed) if you need to let it out sometimes .
