Hi all. This is my first post and I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Brandie. I've been researching WLS for quite a long time and was able to switch to United Healthcare insurance through my new job and decided to take the first step toward lap-band surgery. I've made an appointment with Dr. White in Omaha for his WLS seminar. If anyone has any pointers on how to proceed I would be very gratefull. After the seminar I plan to get a referal for an appointment with Dr. White. That's about all for now. Hope everyone had a great day!! Brandie

Welcome Brandie! You'll find this a great place for support! May I ask, what made you decide on a lap banding? Is that the one that you adjust as time goes on? I had a vertical lap banding 20 years ago- wasn't successful, as Snickers and Pepsi continued to go thru! I had a RNY in July, and have done pretty well with it. No more Pepsi OR Snickers! Best of luck, Jeri H.

Welcome Brandie, Just wanted to say good luck to you on your journey. The only pointer I can give is to research, research, research. Make sure you get all the info you can and make sure you really look at the surgeon you pick. (I haven't heard anything about Dr. White.) I think having full confidence in your facility and your surgeon goes a long ways toward a good and healthy outcome. Unfortunately, with the way that insurance is changing their guidelines for surgery, it's hard to give any pointers on that. Take care and make sure to keep us updated on how you're doing! - Deb W.
