Hello All, It's been sometime since I was here last, just got my internet connection back! yeah!!!! Anyhoot, all is still well on my part of the world, just weighed tonight, I'm now at 151lbs and a size 10! who would have ever thought? I'm so happy with my progress, I just wish my head could see the changes as fast as my body has, sounds silly huh. I keep trying to buy plus size clothes and I still see myself the same as I did at 240lbs, is this normal? Does it eventually go away? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hope everyone is well and Iwould love to hear from anyone, until then...have a good one!

Christina, We're glad to have you back! 151 pounds? Way to go girl! As far as the head games, I know what you mean there. I am wearing size 8s and 10s and yet I still see myself as a plus size. Even though I go to the Medium racks in the store I am convinced all the clothes are just mis-marked. One thing that has helped a little is standing in front of a mirror. I look at the bones I can now see like my collar bone and the little indentation at the base of my neck. Something else that has helped is looking at the pictures I have taken of my weight loss along the way. I take pictures every 3 months. Looking at these forces my brain to realize that I have lost weight. I have head that it can take up to 2 years for the mind to catch up, so hang in there and enjoy shopping! Janine, Thanks so much for responding to my post, I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one who felt this way. I had my open RNY on 6/17/03 started with a BMI of 41, weighing 240, I'm only 5'4" and now weigh 151 but my head just wont believe the changes ya know, I contantly seek reassurance, was wondering, have you had any loose skin? I'll bet they could cut off 20lbs of loose skin alone off of my, any suggestions? I should be exercising alot more, been putting it off due to the weather, I would just assume walk than anything, anyway, thanks alot for replying to my post, Christina

Christina, Like you I started with a low BMI (42) I am 5'8" with a starting weight of 273. I had my surgery on 5/16/03. I am now at 163 and people keep asking me if I am going to try to lose any more weight. They think I am "skinny" enough. Funny thing is I haven't "tried" to lose the 110 pounds that I lost. Just changed my habits. With my mind not seeing me in the same light, I have asked a couple of close friends (who I consider healthy looking) how much they weigh. Kind of trying to give myself a guide. As far as loose skin, YOU BETCHA! My chest and upper things are the worse. My upper thighs have their own set of bat wings. LOL My stomach has rebounded well, but I still have hanging skin. Walking is great exercise. I joined a health club prior to surgery and faithfully go 3-5 times a week. I like going to the various classes that are offered, including Abs, step aerobics, and kick-boxing. I think that attending these classes have helped me in reaching my goals quickly. I am also starting to see muscle definition (not bulk) in my arms and legs. Keep up the good work and don't worry, you are normal! Janine
