Psych Evaluation

Can anyone tell me what the Psych evaluation is like, what do you do or what can I expect and why in heck do you even need this thing? Any info would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks all.~~~~Tina

The psyche eval is no big deal. Be honest with your reasons for wanting wls & be educated on it also. Stress you're doing this for your health no vanity. Outline family history of weight & health related problems. Denise

They want to be sure that you know what you are getting into and want to make sure you can handle the changes. Sometimes a test is given that basically is a personality test. I believe there are 600 questions. Many of the questions are asked more than once but worded differently. It is sent away to be scored & later the psycologist gets the results. When I heard what it said about me I interrupted her & told her she was describing my MOTHER! What a shock to realize that I am so similar to Mom. Be honest and take it seriously. I just had my psych eval on the 17th it took about an hour he asked questions about family history like alcohol abuse, family support, your history with your parents & family and what do you expect from having wls and do you fully understand the consequenses of dumping and not following the program. Asked alot of questions over and over but I felt it is just to make sure your doing it for yourself and for the right reasons and to make sure your personally up for the journey. Just be honest. I was very nervous and I told him so everything went fine. Good Luck!
