Lots of questions
Hello everyone. I am 5 days post op from a lap rny and have several questions. I started last evening with nausea and vomiting. It continued this morning. I can't seem to keep much down. I am trying propel water and that seems to be settling ok. My doc is going to call me in a prescription for this. Does this eventually go away? I had tried the boost breeze and the resource but I'm thinking that it may have too much sugar content. I'm just worried about not getting my fluids and protein in. I sure hope this gets better. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
I really like Dr Myrie. He is a quiet person with a good bedside manner. He will answer any questions you have. He even called my husband back this morning when I couldn't keep anything down. And he called me in some medicine to help with the nausea and vomiting. I had my surgery on monday and came home thursday evening. Good luck with your surgery!!
Hiya Jenni...welcome to the losing side! I had my Lap done 4wks and 4days. Hopefully things will get better for you, I didn't get sick til my 3rd wk out, but I wouldn't worry about the protein right now as you aren't very far out yet, just try to get down as many fluids as you can!
Hang in there....

I know how you feel I was very nausea the first month after my surgery also, you just need to follow the stages and eat very bland soups and broth. I found that when I felt nausea if I went back to broth and cream soups, I would feel better. I was on meds for little over a month. It does get better!! Don't worry so much about getting your protein at this point just keep drinking!!
I am 4 months out and work on getting my protein in all my water and my work out daily. You are on the road to losing and it's a great feeling.

Jenni,
First, welcome to the losing side!!! I agree with the other posts, that your first few days home you should concentrate on fluids in general, not necessarily protein drinks. Also, have you tried sugar free popsicles? I love the bomb pops. They count as liquids and according to my dietician, I can eat them anytime.
Are you trying anything with a milk base? Some people develope a lactose intolerance AFTER surgery and milk products lead to nausea and vomitting.
Just remember to take it slow. I am 8 weeks out today and still am learning how to eat right for my "little tummy". It has only been the past week or two that I am getting enough liquids in most days of the week.
Hang in there. It will get better!!
God bless,
Andrea
