Hi, I'm Kris and I am a lurker. I had surgery in Ames with Dr. Hardy on 9/26/02 and weighed 229, I am down 91 pounds and am very happy with where I am. I wouldn't mind losing another 10-20. I have three girls, 16, 13, and 9 and they all keep me very busy. My husband has been very supportive through out this journey and I couldn't ask for a better support system than my family has been.
I am Paula. I had a Lapi RNY, with tons of complications (read my profile if ya want) 30 Nov 01. I have lost 181lbs from 310 lbs to 129. I too would appreciate any tricks or hints to keep the weight on.
I went to the plastic surgeon this past week to hopefully take care of some of the "war wounds" LOL
Every time I see all the weight that people have lost it just make me so proud of everyone.
Take care and God Bless
Paula
Hi, I am Jim. I had surgery 9-3-03 and am now down 80lbs. My wife had surgery 10-30-03 and is down 48 lbs. Our oldest daughter, she is 23, had surgery 01-07-04 and has lost 16 lbs. We are all doing great. We had our surgery in Fort Dodge, Ia, Dr. VerSteeg doing the surgery. We think that Dr. VerSteeg is the greatest and has a wonderful program going in Fort Dodge.
Hi, I'm Ann and live up North in Iowa had my surgery in Sioux Falls on Dec. 8th. I started at 275 and now I am 245 hoping to get to 150-170 anywhere in there would thrill me. I am married to a great guy who after all is said and done thinks the surgery has been good he wasn't convinced at first... Between us we have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. I have to go back to work today for the first time since surgery boy that being off was wonderful wish I could figure out how to retire. Ann
Hey Everyone!
I'm Deb, from Des Moines. I was 13 weeks post op yesterday and down about 42 pounds from 253.5 to 211. I am very happy I had this done. I have had no complications and am feeling great. I'd like to end up about 140 as I'm about 5'4 - I think that weight would put me just over "ideal" on the charts.
It's great to know everyone is out there. In fact, I ran into someone last night while getting my hair done who had surgery in November. Sometimes even in the city you can feel quite alone - so it's wonderful to talk to others about this! I don't yet feel akin to those in my support group more like an outsider - but that will come with time. Take Care Everybody!!!
Hi I'm Leslea and I am two weeks pre op. 1/26/04. Getting very nervous now. I am at 325 right now, I think I've gained almost 10 lbs just since I was scheduled even though I have been trying to cut everything out. I don't have a definite goal but I will be happy to get to 160, I'm 5'7" so I figure that would be half of me gone WOW. Well good health to all and good luck to those who are waiting to get to the losing side.
Hi my name is Karen,
I am four weeks post op the 15th.Started out at 350 over the summer and lost 40 on my own and was 316lbs on surgery date.Have lost 22 lbs so far.I am looking forward to really finding out what I will feel like doing this summer.Cause last summer was not a good time.Couldnt get down to do anything in the yard. But know this summer will be differant.
Well, I am still here. I have been hiding for a while, but decided not to let rude people take me away from my friends.
I am back in college for my final semester before graduating with my AA on April 30th.
Physically, I'm doing well. My pouchie is still a little picky, but not too bad. Currently, I am down 50 pounds and on a plateau, however; I continue to lose inches during my plateaus. No complaints here. For the 1st time ever, I will finally accomplish my New Year's resolution~TO LOSE WEIGHT! LOL
Take care everyone~
Tammy
