ROLL CALL!!!

Hi, I'm Shelly M. I had open RNY on 11/4, so am about 10 weeks out. Starting weight was 357 (yikes!) and I'm down about 45 pounds so far...goal is 150. I'm 44 years old, married, and have a 21-year old daughter and 13-year old son. I've been lurking since surgery, although I posted several times before. I love to check the board, and I learn so much from everyone here!

Hey there, I am 38 years old, and am scheduled to have Open Gastric Bypass the end of this month,, I have four kids ages 19 boy, 16 boy, 10 boy, and 2 girl.. they keep me very busy, My husband is very supportive, and has several concerns... but he is standing behind me 100%..I am very excited but nervous also.... Busted! Been doing more lurking than posting. I don't have a surgery date yet, but my surgeon is Dr. Susan Beck at Mercy Capitol in Des Moines. Have insurance approval, passed the psych thing, echocardiogram OK, endoscopy OK...they want me to see an endocrinologist on Feb 17. Putting me thru a lot of tests, but I'm glad they're being thorough. Hope to have surgery before I turn 40 in March. Husband is supportive. We have a 4-yr old son, and I have a 28-yr old stepson. Work full-time and live in West Des Moines. What do I want to weigh? I have NO idea. Haven't been a normal weight since I was 8 yrs old! Anxious to get some energy & health back. Francie P

Hello everyone in Iowa! My name is Wendy and I am about 13 weeks out also. I had Open RNY on Oct. 6th in Sioux Falls, SD with Dr. Harris. I started out 294 and currently am at 249 so that makes it about 45lbs gone forever so far. I really get frustrated that I am not losing as fast as others but I still keep plugging away!!! I would love to see myself get down to 150lbs. At this point, I can't envision it yet but I can start to see 200 in the horizon for now or even the 100 lb loss mark!!! Goals are always good! I have changed 2-3 pants sizes so I know the inches are coming off as well as pounds. I am a huge lurker but don't do much posting but will try to be better at both!!! Wendy

Hi Everyone! My name is Sherry Weber and I am pre-op. My surgeon, Dr. Bruce Hardy in Ames, submitted my paperwork to the insurance company on 01/02/04 and it is still pending (fingers crossed-fingers crossed-fingers crossed). I am 5' 6" and presently weigh 297#. Both my surgeon and I have set my goal weight at 150#. (Again, fingers crossed-fingers crossed-fingers crossed) Blessed Be! Sherry

Hello, my name is Laurie I had surgey last april so i'm about 9 months out I started at 341 down to 205 my goal is to get down to 145 and a size 10 I had dr. mcfarlian in moline she is great. I just joined a membership to workout in a gym. I love to exercise.

Hi there everyone!!!! I guess that I am one of those lurkers that you are talking about.... Anyway, I am pre-op.... My surgery is set for Feb. 16th 2004... Dr. Phelps is my surgeon, he is with the Genesis Center for Barriatric Surgery...... In Davenport.... I have been married for 18 yrs... We have 5 children, ages, girl 13, girl 9, girl 9, boy 5, boy 5...... Not a typo.... Yes, I have 2 sets of twins..... I watched Oprah today and some of the things were scary to me.... knowing that i will be going through that in awhile.... I would love to hear from anyone who wants to chat, or anything like that.... Hello Everyone! My name is Stephanie, I'm 31 yrs old and have one son who is 6 yrs old. I live outside Davenport and I had my Open RNY at Trinity Hospital in Rock Island, IL on August 19th. I've lost around 80 lbs so far and hope to drop at least 30 more to be at my goal of 150 lbs. I too admit to doing more lurking than posting. But I have learned alot from people here and really appreciate it!

Hi everybody I am Amy, I am 23 weeks post op. I am 5'6" and my starting weight was 248. I am currently 188 for a total of 60 pounds lost. I am currently a size 14/16. My surgeon says he will be happy to see me at 175 and thrilled if I got to 150. Personally I am very happy to where I am. I have been losing slow but steady. I just started working out with a trainer again last night. We will have to see if he can help me get a jump start again. I have 3 boys. JT is my oldest, he is 5. We adopted him at birth through private addoption. He is special needs due to a stroke and Eplilepsy, but he is doing great Christopher is 3, he is special needs due to speech and developmental delays. His adoption will be final in May. Hunter is my baby, he is 22 months and special needs due to failure to thrive. He is doing great after being placed with us. He has gained 3 pounds in almost 3 months. His adoption will be final in may as well. I am married to a wonderful man, Tom. He can be a PITA at times but all partners can Tom and I are both members of our local volunteer fire department. He is Captain of the fire department and I am an EMT with the First Responder service. I work on an as needed basis at the local hospital in the OB department. I work maybe 1 day a month.
