Hi everyone, It has been a while since I posted. Just trying to adjust to my new lifestyle, as I'm sure you are all doing as well. If not, your living your life to the fullest, or fighting to get approval. I HOPE you are all doing good! I just wanted to post this and see if you could all leave a post back stating how you are doing on your journey at this point. I think of you all often. I am doing ok, had near pneumonia, now recovering from that with ouchie muscles in upper incision from coughing so darn hard. Been on a plateau all week, this too will pass. Found out I cannot eat scrambled eggs at all~ I . That really stinks, but oh well I guess. LOL. Please let me know how you all are! Happy Holidays! Tammy P. Open RNY 11/3/03 -35 lbs

Tammy::::: I am doing WONDERFUL, lol. Other than having yucky sinus and ear infection last week, it seems to be going away. still tired and stuff though. I was on a bit of a plateau, but with being sick, well, down a total of 123 lbs now, which feels wonderful. I just wish I looked skinny! Its like I am a smaller version of my fat self. I still have so many rolls, big thighs, and a big bum. its hard to explain, but if you knew me and saw me every day you would understand. I just wish I LOOKED skinnier! maybe if I was working out or something, lol. anyhow, my big new years goal thing is to work out. I need to find a good routine to stick with for a while, then I think the inches will come off more. Well, I feel blessed because I guess someone on obesity help *adopted* my family for the holidays, so I guess I will be getting some help getting my son a present for xmas. Right now, I dont have anything for him yet. I did get a check for 20 from a cheer fund, so that will help get a few things under the tree. I guess its probably my fault for not planning ahead for xmas and saving, but different things have come up, with the car breaking down, etc. Oh wel, life goes on. So thank you to whomever is my angel on here to help out my son, and I hope every one has a happy holidays, and adjusts to eating well. Judi

Tammy, I think I'm doing pretty good I had surgery last Monday and am learning a little every day. I find it the hardest to eat all they want me to eat. So far I've only had one thing disagree with me and that was tuna so have gone back to softer stuff. I go to the doctor on Friday and can't wait to see if I have lost. Ann

4 months out and 84# and 53" GONE!!!! Down from a sometimes size 32 to 22/24 and actually wearing non-stretch blue jeans! Been in an eating slump lately. Hungry all the time and unable to get in enough fluids. But no actual complications. Nausea i**** and miss. One day I can eat certain foods the next week it causes instant nausea. Something that goes down really good is soup so this weekend I made several batches of homemade soup and froze it in one cup ziplocks. I can get so much more protein into homemade than canned and its MUCH more economical! I made chicken and stars, veggie beef, chili, and will finish with ham and bean. Otherewise I am full of energy and my concentration level has greatly improved. I attribute that to getting sugar out of my body. I think I was really close to being diabetic so this surgery came at a really good time in my life. To those of you still contemplating surgery or who are new postops, my advice is to read all you can and network, network, network! The more you know, the easier your transition will be!

Hi Tammy Doing horrible here, like everyone wanted to here that one. It has been a week from hell, a cousin died, my boyfriend's mother died, we can accept the deaths of those that are 75 & 92 BUT 4 little girls from our school district were killed the other day in a snowmobile accident, 3 of them 10 years old, the other one 12 yrs. old. All of them were in my daughters school. We are 2 small consolidated schools. Two of the girls were sister's & happened at their house, it was a b'day party. And to top it off their mother saw the accident as the girl's were turning around on the gravel road in front of their house a 16 yr. old from our school popped the hill & hit both of the snowmobiles. One died at the scene the other 3 at the hospital. There is a grieving team for the school on Monday for everyone. Give your kids an extra hug as often as possible. Carolyn

Hi Tammy, I am just over 9 weeks out and have no idea how much I have lost. Haven't seen the surgeon for a while and am not scheduled to see him until Jan. 20th. I am finally doing a little better on the protein thing.I was having a really hard time with the drinks. Now I ahve been using the bars and am able to eat those. Have to call the Dr. today to see what I can take for alergies. Can't quit sneezing. I understand about the muscles in the incision area. I had about a week where I lived with the ho****er bottle on a pulled muscle "inside" my ribs on the left front. Try the water bottle or a heating pad. it does help. I got one of my Christmas presents early. A 6 week old jack russell puppy. She is still in that run for 10 minutes and sleep for an hour stage. Glad Jeff is laid off for the winter so he can help with the potty training. The other dog isn't so sure about this thing! This week starts the "baking season" as Mom and I call it. All week we will be baking for Christmas plates. This is what we do for friends, neighbors and the older family members (not for the kids) It takes us all week and then Friday we will deliver it all. The good thing aboutit is that after looking at all that stuff, there is no way I want to try and eat it! Hope every one is not getting too stressed by the holidays and has Happy ones, Elizabeth

Finally-- FINALLY-- out of my slump. I have now lost 40 pounds, 5 in the last 5 days. I hope it continues at least for a while. I am finding that I cannot eat after about 7:00 in the evening-- only liquids. Otherwise, I don't feel like I will lose anything. Maybe just a mind game with me, but who am I to knock a losing streak! This was a mini-goal for me before I left to go to Texas this next week. I would like to see 50 gone by the time this year is over. Happy holidays, y'all!

Hi Tammy, I am doing pretty good, I find I have to eat really slow or it feels like it is stuck in my chest. I am down 25 lbs. I can't tolerate tuna yet, that was a really bad experience. Got all my Christmas decorating done yesterday with the help of the hubby. Now have to get all the presents wrapped before the grandboys get here. Theresa

Hi Tammy, I had my surgery just last Tuesday & am not feeling very good. I have had surgery before but have so much more pain this time. I realized today that I am having muscle spasms and that is causing most of the problems. I spent the afternoon with a heating pad & that helped some. In addition my pouch doesn't like water! I have always drank lots of water but now even an ounce make me feel really queasy. Juice is OK and I can trick that little stinker by sucking ice cubes but I still have trouble getting in the liquid I need. I have at least another week before I graduate to my phase II diet and then I am still expected to drink 1 1/2 liters of liquid. I had to have just liquids for 14 days before the surgery & had lost 21 pounds by the day I went for my presurgical physical 4 days before the surgery. I have no idea how much I have lost now but it better be at least a few more pounds. I can see it, at least in my face. Dixie

5 months out this Friday, and 84 pounds off! I keep yoyoing back and forth over about five pounds. Hopefully, I'm back on a downward trend! JUST able to tolerate scrambled eggs, roast beef (cooked to the nth degree), and even had a little really tender steak the other day. Chicken is still a little iffy. I see an exercise phsiologist (sp?) om Monday, and will get an exercise regime that I can take to a local gym. Still walking about a mile when the weather allows. Jeri H.
