Exercise
I dont really remember when i started back to exercise since it has been so long. But, I can tell you that I think it is a really important aspect of maintaining wt loss. I currently exercise everyday, I rarely take a day off. I walk/run for 60 minutes and on alternate days I exercise to tapes such as the Firm that incorporates wt training for firming. For my birthday last month, I asked for 20 and 25 lb dumbells. I feel that I am in the best shape that I have ever been and I just turned 44.
Theresa,
My doctor only allowed walking for the first 6 weeks. At my 6 week check-up he released me fully. From that point on I started attending classes at my gym. I really didn't feel like I was getting a good cardio work-out just walking. I was cautious not to over do it at first.
From my 6th week post-op until now (7 months post-op) I have increased my exercising. In an average week, I usually attend 2-3 kickboxing classes, 2-3 weight lifting classes, a step class, and a pilates class.
I am a firm believer that my exercise program has truly helped me to drop the weight faster as well as help to tone me up. I started at 5'8", 273# and was at 186# at 6 months (a loss of 87#)
