I'm home and on losing side!
Hello all,
Just wanted to let you know that I am home and on the losing side now. It has been a week and a half since surgery (12/8) and I was home 12/11. Still healing and trying not to do too much. Tried to post last night, but it did not show up.
Thank you all for your prayers and support.
Andrea
I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you! Everything will be all right, make sure you get up and walk as much as you can after surgery, it helped me recover faster. Also, remember not to gulp anything- that was the hardest for me, I was a water gulper and it will hurt if you drink too much too fast. Any questions, make sure to ask. Good Luck and I will keep ya in my prayers!!!

Andrea, You know I was getting my house painted and cleaning out stuff and now I should be ready but I have so much to do. I have to go to work tomorrow about 1 till probably 10 at night. Then all day Sunday so I may be up early tomorrow to get the rest of the stuff done. I still don't have anything ready to take to the hospital. I did get some food so I will have something when I get home and I got my Vista Vitamins so I've got that together. I will probably not get to leave work till 8 or so on Sunday and have to drink my stuff then so I will probably not get much sleep. I was wondering if I would feel like reading in the hospital or do you just want to sleep? I'm still not nervous but I haven't had time for that yet probably in the car on the way to Sioux Falls. Ann
Judy, I got the vitamins from Susan Maria's site www.BariatricEating.com
they are expensive but it is all there B12, Calcium, multi etc. so you do not have to buy 3 or 4 other pills. They are designed for WLS and the absorption rate is better. I thought just the eating out junk food stuff I used to buy would more than pay for the vitamins. On her website she also has a lot of protein bars and supplements and a lot of information. Ann
The days leading up to surgery are indeed nerve-racking! The fear of the surgery itself, how your body will react, how you will feel afterward, and the fear of the new lifestyle are foremost on everyone's minds. Unfortunately there are no standard responses because everyone reacts differently. The best advice I can think of is to follow all your doctor's instructions to the "t" and focus totally on YOURSELF- not your kids, your husband, your housework, but YOU! That may sound selfish, but the next few weeks will be challenging learning how to eat and drink all over again. And you will need all your energy to be successful! I hope your family is supportive and that your surgery goes well! My thoughts and prayers are with you!
