Does it hurt to get your drain out?

Hi Theresa! I haven't had WLS yet but I've had past surgeries with a drain. It didn't hurt to have mine taken out, but it's a wierd feeling! Seems like once that sensation starts it's over & the tube is out. Snow? Did I see you say snow? Not sure about you but they are predicting 5-10 inches here! And some pretty gusty winds. I'm diggin in for the weekend here & do some "nesting". Carolyn

I had a hysterectomy 2 1/2 months ago & accidently pulled mine out myself while still in the hospital. That's what they get for telling me I had to have a BM before going home! I was struggling to clean up without hurting myself that I just pulled it out & didn't even know it until I noticed some light pink spots on the floor. So in my case it didn't hurt at all but the nurses sure got excited! Dixie

Theresa, It hurt me when mine came out. I had surgery back in september. But I flet alot better once it was out. That is when the real healing starts

Hi Theres, I had 3 drains with the last one being pulled out at 5 wks post op. None of the 3 hurt when removed but it felt funny feeling them moving in my tummy as they were being pulled. I wouldn't worry to much about this. Good luck. Patti

They took mine out right before I left the hospital. It didn't hurt, but I agree with the others who said it did feel funny. I had been having some discomfort when I sat up, and that went away after the drain was removed.
