Thanks
Thanks to each & every one of you for your support, going to make me cry again. Has anyone dealt with Iowa Medicaid denial? If so would you email me & let me know what you said in your appeal that would help me out. I called the doctor's office right away & spoke to Sheila. Of course she didn't know yet of the decision as I was calling every other day to see if anything was decided. We will wait until we get the denial letter & work from there. She said with Iowa we have to be careful sometimes they only offer one appeal. I have 3 doc's in my hometown that will be happy to go to bat for me, in fact the nurses even offered to write up something for me if that will help. With all of the overwhelming support I'm getting from here, my family & my local doc's it sure helps me mentally. Oh ya I told Sheila one thing that was mentioned was my bone structure & she said that was a crock on Medicaid's part, that's something not even in consideration. Would love to find out which doc gave me the denial, maybe I'll find out in the letter. I have decided that with the appeal I'm going to enclose pictures of myself as well, can't hurt. Thanks again to all of you for your support Carolyn
Carolyn, I have not had to appeal to Medicaide, but... when my paperwork was sent into them, I also had letters written by ALL of my doctors recommending this surgery for me. Maybe if your able to get all of your doctors to do that, it will help too. I'll pray for your approval honey. It will all work out, I just know it!! Lubbs, Tammy
I don't have Medicaid but I was denied by my insurance also. When I appealed I sent letters from all of my doctors stating why this was medically necessary. The primary physician is the most important. I also sent a letter from my psychologist, proof of how bad my liver functions were, a bone density study and a list of my current medication. I also provided a list of all the diets I have even been on, the dates and the outcome, which of course wasn't good. I carbon copied my attorney at the bottom so they knew I was serious.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Thanks gals. I'm writing down all suggestions so I've got my ducks in a row. Sheila said they don't do the appeals but they help out. With any support suggestions I get will just help my cause. The one doc that will write a letter for me has known me all my life, he dx'd my diabetes. He is also an old family friend & when I told him about WLS he was all for it. He knows of my struggles. The doc I see now is a PA, & then the doc he has to check in with are also behind me 100%. There will be no problem getting medically needed letters from them. My nurses at the clinic here in town are so upset for me they also said they would write if that would help! Not only that but my family has said they would write! I'm so thankful to have such a great support system. I'm going online to see if I can come up with criteria of Medicaid. Thanks again & hugs...Carolyn
