Well, just got word I'm denied. Doc's office forgot to tell them I'm big boned so they went on small to medium frame. Plus since I've lost weight in the past they don't think I'll be committed. I've been bawling for the past half hour the tears won't quit. Carolyn

It sounds like their reasons are pretty flimsy... Appeal! Don't give up - we're all on /your/ side.

i am so sorry you got denied. personally it sounds like bs. appeal and find anyone you can to write letters that know you and your life. the more letters the better. Plus write a letter your self telling them why you need this surgery. Again i am so sorry for you. lynda

Those sound like some pretty weak excuses to turn you down. If your doctor feels you would benefit from surgery then he/she knows more about it than some old ins company! Call the insurance company and NAIL THEM DOWN about their EXACT criteria! Have them read it right out of their book! They don't like to do it but you as a customer have the right to that knowledge. Then take that info and fine-tune your appeal letter so all your co-morbities apply to the criteria. Enlist your doctor's help as needed for terminology and support. Then go for it! Don't give up! It sounds like they stretched for a loophole... you can do it too!!! Good luck!!!

Can you appeal? Don't give up, keep working on it. I know a girl that fought with her insurance company for a year, then she switched doctors and had no problems getting the same insurance to approve it. Look into all your options and keep up the fight. Good luck hon! ~Julie
