New Person

Hi guys, I haven't really posted here but have on the main board. I am now 4 weeks post-op. I don't really know where I belong since I had my surgery in NY. I also didn't have the full bypass, but a gastric sleeve. I am hoping to have the second part of the surgery some time in March or April. I am doing very well now. I am somewhat surprised that I still have to take all my normal medication and still have dizzy spells and need my oxygen all the time. By my scale here at home I have lost 26 pounds. I am very happy. I am seeing my local family doctor tomorrow to go over some of the medication. I knew this surgery wouldn't cure everything but I was hoping to get off some more of the meds. It seems that they just keep adding them back. I was wondering if there are any local support groups. I get lonely since I don't know anybody around here that has had this done. The Mercy group was going to let me join in with them since I tried to have my surgery there, but I haven't contacted them since I have been home. I will be going back to NY in January for a three month check, and I speak with the nutritionist on the telephone at least monthly.

Hi Marilyn! Welcom aboard You will find as I have great support here. There are ppl in your area that can help you find a support group. We are also trying to get our chat room up & going meeting at 7 p.m. Feel free to join in Congrats on your weight loss, I'm still pre-op myself just "weighting" on insurance. Carolyn

Welcome, You are in the right place. This is a great group of people. How are you feeling? I am not up to date on your type of surgery. You'll have to explain it to us. Lisa

well glad your surgery went well in ny. we all belong here cuz we all are trying to lose weight. this is more of a support system this is a weight loss family. keep up the good work. in time you will be off meds so give it time. i am still pre op my surgery is 12/11. lynda
