Hi all, I need some advise. How many meals should we have a day. Is six small meals better for you than three larger meals. I have breakfast (like a egg), four crackers w/peanut better, chili (1/3 c)for lunch. more crackers, and dinner. Is that to much? I have been keeping water flowing. what do you think?

At 4 months out, I have switched to the 6 small meals instead of the regular three. It seems to make a difference for me. Although it seems I'm ALWAYS eating, and I have to watch portion control a little more closely, I don't seem to get hungry or think about my next meal so much. What ae you having for dinner? I alwyas seem to be hungry about 8 or 9:00pm. I usually have a little cottage cheese or cheese and crackers about then. I'd love to have popcorn, but have a problem knowing when to stop! Sounds like you're on the right track- if you get hungry between times you eat, try the 6 smaller meals and see if it works for you. Keep up the good work! Jeri H. -75

This is more a question for you being fairly new out from surgery how did you overcome not feeling weak not being able to eat. Also what were some of your meals when you first got home. Did you do protein drinks or BOOST. Maybe I've already asked, trying to keep a notebook of everyone's suggestions. Thanks

Lisa, Great job on the water! I try to have 3 meals and 2-3 snacks a day. I find that by doing this I am able to keep my energy level up. The BTC also recommends this as a way to keep your insulin levels consistent. A typical day for me is a protien drink in the morning, 1/2 c nuts mid-morning, 1 cup yogurt w/non-fat dry milk for lunch, string cheese for a mid afternoon snack, and a meat and veggie for dinner. Sometime I add another snack after dinner. So far it has been working for me.
