HELP!....Lap-Band Surgeons?

Just wondering if anyone here has had Lap-Band performed in Iowa City or Rochester MN ? Those are my first 2 choices for areas to have the procedure done, due to my history at both places. I just cant seem to find a Surgeon that does anything but RNY or VBG...Anyone have any info please let me know. Oh and BTW...Thanks for all the nice responses to my last post!...was fun to read everyones opinions!

Bill, You are quite the charmer. Read your posts here and on the main board. You seem like a fun guy. Sorry I can't help you with the surgeon, but I wanted to ask why you have chosen the lap band. Not that I am pushing R N Y, just want to know more about VBG. Andrea

Ive chosen Lap-Band over RNY Solely for the reason I have Von Willerbrands disease. (Similar to Hemophilia) Any surgery will have a risk of bleeding, but in my case the risk is Much higher. So, the Lap-Band is a safer alternative for Me, no internal organs will be cut or stapled. Only a few small incisions and sutures. Just a safety measure really. I would go for the RNY in a second if it werent for my bleeding disorder.

Bill, i have done research and i was finding out that alot wont do those anymore cuz not as successful in the long run but i am sure there is someone out there that does. good luck on your search i know since you asked here someone will know. lynda

Bill you need to go to the lap band messageboard on this site look to the left of the opening page on this site and click on it.I have the lapband and since 8-4-03 I have lost 30 lbs.It is a much slower loss but I'm in no hurry it didn't come on overnight.I was only off work 3 days after surgery.Also visit lapbandtalk.com a very good site with many success stories the surgery is very popular and some surgeons are booked for the next year. Hello Bill. My name is Rhonda. I have also been searching for surgeons in the same area. I am just south of Iowa City and work in Washington. I did find surgeons in Iowa, but most of them are in the Souix City area and Omaha area. I dont want to have the major surgery either. Not for any other reason but that I have asthma and have a hard time after a major operation keeping my lungs functioning properly. It is hell not being able to breath. LOL Anyway, I did find a list of surgeons and will forward it on to you if you would like. Thanks Rhonda

Hi again Bill, I just printed off a list and there is a surgeon in Rochester, MN. If you go to www.lap-band.com you will be able to get a list of surgeons and how far it is from you and all that info. Hope this helps. Rhonda
