I am a newbie

Hi, My name is Lisa Young, I'm originally from Marshalltown, Iowa, family still lives there. But had to move to Des Moines for job reasons. I'm 28 years old. I have just gotten approval from Medicaid / Title 19, and my surgery date is December 22, 2003, I'll be coming home Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. I'm excited, but scared and nervous. I haven't been able to sleep. I am hoping to find new friends. I don't have any. I am having my surgery in Grinnell with Dr. Eibes as my surgeon. I heard they are top 10 in the state of Iowa. Welcome to the group, Lisa! It's awesome to read about someone who's already gone through all the 'fun' of waiting for insurance approval, and is already on the road! This will be a wonderful Christmas present for yourself!! I'm a newbie myself, just had my consultation and waiting to hear back from BTC on whether or not my insurance will approve the surgery. MC, I was just at the Chat room, how does work the darn thing? by the by, congrats NEWBie. I am so envious, I should have had my surgery date by now with Dr. Eibes, but he wants more tests, so now have to decide when to do this, my daughter is expecting January 2, so I don't know that I want to do it when she is having her baby, because of the 3 and 4 year old I want to help her take care of. this new one will be a boy!

Hi Lisa- Welcome! I am having my WLS in Grinnell also, with Dr. Schwartz on Nov. 19. Have you heard about the support group in Grinnell? The next one will be the Sat. before Thanksgiving 10am-noon. Actually at 9am or so before the meeting, they are having a clothing exchange- I bet you could find some things you need. Let me know if you need more details on the meeting. Take care. Lori

Congrats Lisa, What a way to get to start a new year! I'm somewhat a newbie, I have one more consultation with the pulmonologist before I can be scheduled for surgery but can't get in to see him til Dec 16. So it's a roller coaster ride. GOOD LUCK GOD BLESS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS
