I have an appointment in Iowa city with Dr. Maher in January. Im so suprised. All ive heard was it takes a year to get in. Then Debi (The nurse) said I might be able get my surgery In April. If Im approved... Im really happy that I changed Doctors now. The Lord works In many was !!!

WAHOOOO FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's a step in the right direction Stacy! I've worked with Iowa City and they have FANTASTIC insurance advocates there who know EVERYTHING about insurance. That's how we were able to go thru invitro to have our daughter and it only cost us the $400 out of pocket expense! We kept getting bills for more, I would just take the bill to the advocate and next thing I knew we would get the claim invoice saying it was paid by ins.. Knowing how reluctant ins is to pay for WLS, the advocates should be very knowledgeable in working all the loopholes. You are in good hands- take advantage of it!

Stacy, I had surgery in Iowa City and everyone is great there. Did they tell you that they have had no major complications. Plus it is done Lap and that is always a plus. I had surgery 9/2 and I am doing great! I am so happy for you.

i am glad you found a dr. to see. i hope everything goes good for you and good luck. i also changed drs. i was with dr. versteeg in fort dodge but now i am with dr. smith in carroll where i live. i live 3 blocks from the hospital so i walk to all my appts. but good luck. lynda
