This is aimed at post-ops, Have any of you ever gotten sick after you eat the same food that you've been eating ? Also does anyone experience a lot of gas, coming from both ends ? I went back to work a week ago and most of my problems started then ? Any input would be appreciated.... Thanks

I can't tolerate roast beef or chicken unless it is practically mush like in a ready-made dish. Fried fish goes down well one time not the next. Most fried foods for that matter do not go down well. But then again I had broiled fish several times and half of those times did not tolerate it and the other half barely knew I had eaten! I have a tremendous amount of gas (from both ends) but no odor. I may burp 5-6 times after I eat no matter how slow or fast I eat. Sometimes I wonder if stress is a factor. The other night I got sick on a few kernals of popcorn... tonight I ate about a cup with no problems. I do really well with chili and salsa, figure that! I stick to "safe foods" at work cuz my work is really fast paced so if I relax during lunch and have to jump up and start running afterwards, I need to have something in my stomach that is not going to upset it or slow me down. Generally that means just some applesauce, cheese, yogurt or soup.

Sheila, I am 6 months out and have yet to get sick on anything. However I am very careful aout what I eat. I don't eat anything with more than 3 gr. of sugar, unless it is natural sugar. As far as meats, I have been able to tolerate Chicken, hamburger, pork and fish. The one thing I haven't tried yet is steak. I believe that it isn't unusual for someone to be able to tolerate a food one day and not the next. As far as the gas, I noticed that I break a smelly wind if I eat something that is high (more than 12 gr.) in fat. The only time I burp is if I eat too fast. Good luck on your journey.
