DENIED
I found out this morning, my insurance company,Midlands Choice, has denied my request for surgery approval. I'm really feeling down right now, but I did send my info to the people at the obesity law web site, to see about help with an appeal. The reason for the denial, is that I haven't been on a medically supervied diet for six monthes, so I am going to the Dr next week, to start that. I did go to the Dr, each of the times I started a weight loss group, but it was not enough. My knees, back and hips hurt so bad, and it's so hard to get through the day at work, hope I can hang in there, I just want to give up, but I'm going to keep up the fight, please keep me in your thoughts! Best of luck to all you preops, congratulations to those who have won the fight, and are on the losing side, hopefully some day I'll join you! DeeAnn R. Clear Lake

DeeAnn,
Isn't Midland's Choice just such wonderful insurance? They have denied me twice now. Like you, part of it is the diet thing. But they keep telling me that I don't have a comorbidity that is serious enough to warrant the surgery. Gee, back pain for 3 years that I have to take Vicodin and Zanaflex on a daily basis isn't serious enough? I just hate Midland's Choice!!!!!! I hope you hang in there and beat them. I had become so depressed that I had really considered giving up, but thanks to all the support from people on this board, I guess I will keep plugging along. Just do the 6 month of supervised diet and I am sure you will be approved. And know that we are all here for you!
