seeing the surgeon today - NERVOUS!!!
Good morning, all,
Well, I finally meet with the surgeon this afternoon. I have already met with the dietician and psychologist (for three hour psychological testing). I have a three-page list of questions that I printed from spotlighthealth.com, but was wondering if you all might have any more suggestions. Are there things that you wish you would have asked before surgery?
Just to let you know, this is a knew program at Genesis here in Davenport. So far, the two surgeons have done about 8 surgeries. I do want to go with this program as long as I am comfortable with the surgeon. My dh thinks that since it is new, the doctors will be up-to-date on the latest techniques and meticulous in their work. I want to agree, but am still nervous.
Hopefully, after this afternoon, I will have a surgery date!
Thanks in advance,
Andrea
Andrea:
As you know, the most important thing about having your surgery is your surgeon. You need to have absolute faith in his abilities. Since the two surgeons are so new in this field, I would ask them the hard questions of who and where they trained with, and even why they got into this field of doing wls. Some are just in it for money. You want to avoid those types for sure. I had a great surgeon, Dr. Maher in Iowa City, who I had total confidence in. He had done over 300 of these surgeries and really cares about making life better for his patients.
After you meet your surgeon and get answers to your questions, I would go with your gut feeling. Bottom line, would you trust this man with your life? If not, you need to find another surgeon.
Take care,
Jennifer
