I just found out today that I have been denied a second time. So I guess this is it. I don't have anything more to give them, so I guess it means that this just wasn't meant to be. Since I won't be having WLS, I won't be visiting the board any more. But I do wish everyone well, and I hope everyone has the success and good health they desire.

Sheila, I don't want you to give up. I have been doing some reading and some people get all of their doctors to write for appeals also, meaning your PCP, any specialist, anyone who sees you for one of the co morbidities. Keep at it. I have heard some times, like for SS disability they turn you down a couple of times just to weed out the ones that aren't real serious. check into the insurance commissioner etc...
Sheila-
I don't want you to give up either! It wouldn't hurt to appeal the insurance commissioner- although I know these emotional ups and downs are not easy. Can I still come find you when I go to Grinnell? I will probably be there this coming Tuesday to visit Tammy who is having her surgery on Monday. Take care-

You sound like I did 5 weeks ago. Really dont give up, see what they need . I needed at least 6 monthes of supervised diet. Sooooo thats what im giving them now. I have untill March then I will have my 6 months in . I pray that I will be approved. Dont give up Please. I konw how you feel . I cryed for days ( for real) I was a mess.... Ask them why you were denied and fix what they want .Im a very very " I want it Now " kind of person and to me 6 months is like 20 years to me waiting to get approved. I want it so bad I will do this for 6 months. I will Pray for you . DONT GIVE UP .....Stacy
Don't give up! My insurance is a union's self-insurance plan that doesn't preapprove or cover anything to do with weight loss. My life is worth more so I re-morgaged the house, I'm worth it. Now I'll fight to get my money back and use a lawyer if necessary. I went to Cedar Falls and had to pay $24,000 up front. The insurance has paid their part of the related exams. Now I'm six weeks post-op and doing fine. The way I look at it I'll have great tax deductions for this year! Kate
This is Scott, Melanie's Husband. I will send you the letters I wrote and the sites I used to gather my information. DON'T GIVE UP NOW!! I had to write 3 appeal letters and get my 20 years of medical records. I will give you some examples. Write to me at [email protected]
