Just was wondering..................... I just read on another board that only positive results and things are posted on obesityhelp.com. Is that true? If so, *****gulates messages and how? Andrea

I've never had anything altered or edited on here. I think most of us are pretty positive people! Jeri H. :-0

Andrea, Do you mean positive results from WLS surgery? If so I believe the obesityhelp.com website is far from one sided. They let people be very honest here. They have the "WLS Memorial" page which shows that this surgery isn't without risk. I know many people have asked questions on the Q&A board asking for negatives on the surgery and people post. Another thing to think about is that the people who come to this site are either investigating/trying to have the surgery or are post-ops who want to be supportive of others and are looking for support themselves. This surgery is life altering and most people when presented with the options of being either 300+ pounds or 150 pounds with a few struggles will probably pick the 150# person. They have choosen to focus on the positives of this surgery. Remember there are pros and cons to all of life's decisions.

Andrea, I don't believe that this site is altered in anyway. I have read profiles that were positive and negitive. I have had many days of struggles after my surgery. I chose not to promote my negitive feeling about the surgery on the support page. I knew it was only because I was depressed after surgery and it would pass. I still would not promote this surgery to everyone. However if the quality of life is low due tp weight, I would tell someone to research this as an option.

I guess my post will be a good one to watch. I did post negative information. I had a terrible time post-op and was very honest about it. So far, since I have returned home, I have had a pretty easy time of it with only vomiting three times. We will see if my post is altered.

I agree with the rest. I have not felt that my posts have been censored in any way. Any of us who have gone through the surgery want the pre-ops to have as much info as possible to make an informed decision. This lifestyle change is not a picnic. We risk serious lifelong complications and nausea or worse every time we put something in our mouth. Some are luckier than others. I just hoped and prayed when I had my surgery that I would be one of the lucky ones, and I have been. We DO need to hear from others who may have a negative attitude or who have had complications because that is reality and allows us to view both sides. Also, those people need everyone's support! I hope there are not people out there fearful of sharing because they do not feel as upbeat and accepting as others. That kind of input does not necessarily drag the message board down or present WLS in a bad light. It helps newcomers realize that this is not a decision to be taken lightly.
