Just a word of encouragement for those post ops and you soon to be- plateau's can happen any where along the line for WLS! I've just come off of my 2nd one in 4.5 months, and they are the worst! I was stuck at 299-300, and thought I'd be there the rest of my life! My support group offered this advice, and I thought I'd pass it along. 1. Plateaus are not just for those post op's 6 months out- it can happen anywhere along the way. 2. Try increasing your protein, and cut back on the carbs and salty foods for awhile. 3. Be sure you are drinking enough water. 4. Sometimes your body gets "comfortable" at a certain weight. Incerase activity to get it out of it's comfort zone! Thanks! Jeri H. -75 pounds 7-11-03 surgery

Thank You! Thank You! I just needed to hear that others go thru this plateau thing also! I'm only 3 1/2 weeks out but have already hit one! Of course, I've had to shed some tears wondering why did I go thru all of this to be stuck only losing 20 lbs. but then I read your email tonight I feel that hopefully I can get past this and move on again. Thanks for passing on the advise! Wendy 10/6/03 Open RNY

Thanks for the insight. I am 1 month/three weeks out and I know I have had times when the scale wasn't moving. I love the tool I have and I realize it is just that a tool. We have to take it into our own hands and still work for it.
