Update!!
I haven't had the energy to really read the boards or post but thought I'd let you all know how it's going thus far.
When I left for surgery, Tuesday, October 14, my home scale read 324. In the hospital, I gained lots due to the lap procedure, water, and gas. Then I started getting a lot of edema in my legs last Thursday when I went to see the doc. Got back on my Maxzide and peed for two days. As of today, one day short of two weeks out, I have lost 15 pounds (309)!!
Problem started yesterday when I woke up-- I had a horrible stitch in my left side, with an especially deep pain at the site of the incision for the gastric feeding tube (no more colostomy bag!). Had to contact the surgeon for advice and have been using a heating pad for a day. No more stitch, but I still have deep pain at the incision site which hurts when I cough, yawn, or try to clear my throat. My temperature is good, all my vitals are good, so I don't have to worry about pneumonia. I just hope to get that spot of pain gone soon.
Just took a ten minute walk in the apartment hallway. Need to do more, but my energy is slowly coming back. Most of my meals consist of cheese cubes, cream of wheat, bean and cream of tomato soup, cottage cheese, pulverized tuna salad. apple sauce. My protein supplementations are mostly skim milk still, but yesterday, at the movies, I nibbled on a protein bar for 1 1/2 hours. Didn't hurt and tasted wonderful. I've tried three protein shakes so far and there has been only one that didn't blend well and didn't taste good.
I heard this morning that one of my best friends this past weekend fell off a ladder while pruning a tree and broke his ankle. So I have someone to share this stay at home time with. Y'all take care!
