Alright, I am going to say, I AM SCARED TO DEATH right now! I have read nothing lately but BAD about his surgery. My eyes today led me to the death of a 29 year old having wls. The only thing I can do is CRY and CRY. How frustrating. How can I be so scared about something I know is SO right to do? I sooo just want to get this over with! UGH!! Only 7 days to go. In the morning I have my full-physical and Tuesday morning is my Hospital pre-op. As long as I don't back out!!! Take care everyone.

Big Hugs Tammy You are only human being scared. What makes me so angry about the articles printed, they don't always print the whole story. We don't read of the women that die from child birth or hyster's etc. Or men that die cuz they had prostrate surgery. ANY surgery is a risk! Remember why you are having WLS! Good Luck on physical & pre-op, my prayers are with you. ((((((((((hugs)))))))))).

Good Morning Tammy, I know how you feel, I have my surgery exactly 3 weeks from today, and it scares me with all of the publicity it is getting. But with all surgeries there is risk and the papers seem to never publish the good things, just the bad and we know that there has to be more to the stories than what was written. I am like you, I know that in my heart this is the best thing I can do for myself. Our prayers are with you!! You will do just fine!!

DEAR TAMMY: I READ YOUR POST, AND WANTED TO TELL YOU TO HANG IN THERE!!! I HAVE HEARD THAT AT LEAST ONE OF THE WOMEN THAT DIED IN DESMOINES, WAS A HEAVY SMOKER, WHICH LONG WITH MORBID OBESITY, PUT HER AT MUCH HIGHER RISK FOR COMPLICATIONS. ALSO, WE DON'T HEAR ABOUT WHAT THESE PEOPLES COMORBITITIES WERE,AND THEIR HEALTH IN GENERAL. THESE PLACES WITH THE RECENT DEATHS, MAY BE OPERATING ON HIGHER RISK PATIENTS. IF YOU ARE IN GOOD HEALTH, OTHER THAN YOUR OBESITY, YOU'LL DO FINE!!! WE'LL ALL LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING ABOUT YOUR PROGRESS, AS THOSE POUNDS COME OFF!!! TAKE CARE, AND GOD BLESS,AND GUIDE YOUR SURGEONS HANDS! GOOD LUCK, DEEANN R

Everyone is giving you good advice Tammy! It may help to explore your fears further. Write down ALL your concerns, check out the question and answer board and TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR if you still have doubts. This is not something to go into lightly because it does affect the rest of your life. Once I found out I could eventually eat some of my favorite foods again(even tho in very small quantities), I felt much better about my decision. I tell myself- "this is how one of those skinny girls I always envied chooses to eat and I am now finally going to be one of them." You know.... "oh darlin...!!! 2 oz of steak? I am so FULL I can't eat another bite!! I must save the rest for lunch tomorrow!"
