Did anyone else have to do extensive testing? I just met with the dietician yesterday afternoon to be told how to eat. This morning, I met with the psychologist for a full psych evaluation. That meeting took 3 hours! I feel like I have been poked and prodded enough already and I have not even had any medical testing yet. Now just waiting for the appointment with the surgeon on November 5th. TIA, Andrea

Andrea, I have been through a few tests and am waiting now for insurance approval. First I saw the Bariatric doctor and then he had me get blood work. Then I had a psych eval however mine was easy only took an hour just talked. I also had a session with the nutritionist where she went over what we were to eat. Then I saw my surgeon that was 10 days ago I hope by now my papers have been forwarded to the insurance I am going to check on Monday. It is a long process I am trying not to count on it too much because I think I might jinx the insurance approval.Best of luck on your journey. Ann

Good luck to you for approval, Ann. I have approval from secondary ins. and am waiting for primary, but moving on with appointments as if all were okay. My husband is more reserved because in the program I am going through, the psych or nutritionist or surgeon can say that I am not a good candidate and I won't get surgery. If that happens, I will just go through a program that is not as new and is just a few miles away in Illinois. Let us know what you find out Monday! Andrea

Extensive testing? Well, lets see... psychologist (2 appts), nutricianist, pulse oximetry, 2 sleep studies, a colonoscopy, EKG, normal blood work, chest x-ray, abdominal ultrasound which led to a CT scan of the abdomen (ultrasound showed a tumor) I think that's it. I know of patients who had an endoscopy because of heartburn, but I don't have that problem. Obviously the tumor set me back as it had to be removed along with all my female organs but I am now back on the schedule for Dec 9. My surgeon may be a bit more cautious than some but he has done over 500 surgeries with 0 fatalities. I was glad to jump through all those hoops. He has a much less likey chance of running into problems during the surgery. The tests that were ordered for me depended on the answers I provided on a 25 page questionnaire. Good luck on the 5th. Andrea, Yes I think we all have gone through the extensive testing. My surgery was almost postponed due to my white cell count being high. This is only for your protection. Good luck!
