mercy capital support group
Hello Cindy. I have had my RNY for about 10 months now and have not found a support group yet!!!!I had mine by Dr AC at IMMC I am game on helping put together one if someone wants to lead the way!!!!! And as far as Mercy!!! You have to remember they have only been doing RNYS for a little while I remember Dr AC was working with them to help set up their program when I was having My RNY so that means less than a year !!! Also they have only done I think 70-80 so far !!!I also know that they are a lot strictker on who they do and dont do , My wife works with a guy who was told he would have to stop smoking for at least 2 months and stop a few of his meds before they would allow him to have it done !! so it really isnt a level playing field - dont get me wrong I was born at mercy and have gone to mercy for everything ( including the mercy clinic for my family doc ) since I was born and 2 months before I had my RNY I was bite by a Brown recluse spider and spent 7 days at mercy and after my RNY at IMMC there was no comparison IMMC had treated me and my family so much better!!!! so if mercy wants to be stuck up they can kiss my *&%$& . Let me know if you want to start one or if you find one.. Thanks Bill
Yes, the Mercy support group is for Mercy patients. Apparently a lot of hospitals do that from what I've read. I think it's follow-up education/support based on their program.
There is a central Iowa WLS support group that meets monthly. They just had their October meeting last week at IMMC. (It's made up of a lot of IMMC patients.) They have a web site and message board -- a yahoo group. To learn more about the WLS-Iowa group, go to...
