Rapp isn't coming home to...
Rapp isn't coming home today. Still has a fever and skin irritation (infection) around her gastric tube. I guess stomach acid leaks back
out the tube and it breaks down the skin; Sorry if this is gross
to some of you but it is extremely painful.
They need to leave the gastric tube in, cause she can't
tolerate some of her medication orally.
So the 3) goals today are
A) get a wound care specialitst to look at her tissues
so that the wound is manageable at home.
B) Get the fever down and
C) get 2 liters of fluids in today.
I have one more day off this week...
We're getting down to the wire and I have to go back to work on Wed.
We're considering some home health for a few days.
Maybe tomorrow. The problem with these updates is that
everything changes quickly and by the time you get this it all might
be different.
I want her home, she wants to be home but we both want to her to
be really ready and not premature, so we're not pushing the Dr.'s
prudent, cautious judgement. Dr Sundberg has the patiences of a
saint. His staff are excellent as well.
Thanks for hanging with us..
Oh Susan- all I can say is hang in there! Sounds like you have some intelligent doctors working with you. Hopefully in six months this will only be a bad memory you can't remember(because you will be dancing for joy over the 50+ pounds you have lost!) Keep your chin up and try your hardest to get those fluids down. They should really make a difference in how you feel. Hope to see you are going home shortly.
I agree sue, definitely stick with what the docs say. dont rush things at all!
I am saddened that she is not home yet, but I know when it is time for her to go home it will be right.
Let her all know we are thinking of her and love her! she has been there for so many of us on the board that I can never say how much that means to me and everyone else.
I hope she got my card I sent to boone hospital?
