I have my approval, and I'm scared about the stories.

I just wanted to let people know that my surgery has been scheduled for 10/29/03. I am having rny lap. I have heard about the stories, but I feel that I have a choice to die from being fat, or from this, and I decided to take my chances. I can say this because I have faith in my Dr., and he is very very concerned about getting everybody through surgery, and he does check for leaks while your on the table. Plus he said you have to drink this dye that can check for leaks too. I have heard it isn't very good.

I would be more worried if you didn't think about all the ramificat=ions of the surgery. you are planning a new life, one that you really don't know anything about--a new way of eating, a new way of relating to others and best of all a new you. Plus there are risks, but as I read somewhere else, you could tomorrow be walking across the sidewalk and get hit by a car, or like one of my friends, have a heart attack at 40 + due to her weight and co morbidities. can I be so bold, if it is your time, it is your time/

Trusting your doctor is most important but having the right attitude from education yourself thoroughly about the procedure is right up there beside it. I would think that lap surgery wouldn't be quite as risky. You will do fine. I will be waiting to see your post-op posts!!
