I AM SOOOOOO PISSSSSED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!

For starters the nurse coordinator for Dr. McBride has a problem of calling me back. I haved called nurmerous times to only leave 1 message and not get a courtesy return call. Then today the planets were aligned just right because I finally was able to physically talk to Melissa M. Come to find out that nothing has been sent to my insurance company YET because Dr. McBride wanted me to see the hospital pshychiatrist! My consultation with her was on AUGUST 18, 2003 and I was not notified until OCTOBER 2, 2003 that I was to see the damn psychiatrist!!!! 45 FLIPPIN DAYS! IT TOOK THEM 45 F****** DAYS TO TELL ME TO DO THIS!!!!!! I am so upset about this that I am looking into going back and setting up an appointment with Bariatric Treatment Center out in the Rockford, IL area. I am just beside myself. This is the only thing I want in life and the people in charge are throwing me around like a magazine subscription (do I get it or not)(will I read it or will I throw it away) My patience are wearing so thin.

Man, I would be pissed off too! I sometimes think that doctors and their staff forget that we are their employers, not the other way around. Do we have to fire them to get their attention? If the office staff is so cavalier in their treatment of you now, what would it be like if you had a problem after the surgery? I hope things go better for you. Let us know.

You should look around for a better place. They have treated you poorly and you deserve much better. This is not a easy process and to have them blow you off isn't fair. We are all pulling for you! Good luc****ep us informed. Here what I think for them.... Take this

I agree, go back and shop around for a new doctor. Collect all your records and find someone else. That is ridiculous! You don't have to go as far as Rockford though. Trinity Health Systems in Moline, IL were great! I used Genreal Sugery Associates, Dr. Siegert. Trinity also has a Bariatric Treatment Center now and they are great also. Cehck it out. How did your profile progress? Where they on top of things or was there a bit of a waiting game? I hate the idea of having to start all over again. Do you think they would use the info. I have already given and go from there? I may try some hospitals in Iowa. It is just that BTC are able to get me in immediately but the distance is the biggest problem.

Sharon, I am so sorry. Something somewhere was miscommunicated. Hang in there. How long till you can see the psychiatrist? It is a close center for you and that is something to think about for the after care. I got frustrated with the waiting game and all of the hurdles to do this. I have been at this for a year now. It sometimes takes a long time to get into a bariatric program. You have done so much now. It may be sooner to get into someone out of state, but is it closer for you? I know it is frustrating, but the waiting list is huge at NMC right now. Hang in there, Sharon!! laurel

Sharon, i know the feeling. i saw dr. smith July 24th i called a month later to see if he heard for the insurance company yet. Well they sent it in that day so that would of been Aug 25th. so i call in sept. guess what they sent it to the wrong place so now we are up to 2 months since i saw him. well i called my family dr. they called my insurance company and guess what i was approved a week later after they sent it to the right office. well now they called and told me that i had to go to the psych, dietician, and physical theraphy. which i did that the very next day. well ok now we are in oct. i lose my insurance 0ct 31. i called them yesterday to see what is going on. well they said they didnt get the letters they needed. So i called everyone. and they all said yeah they sent them they had the letters in dr. smiths office at 9 am and they all talked to them last week and told him to go ahead. well i then find out that i have to review my psych test i took. which noone told me till yesterday. Now they also tell me i have to have 2 scopes. well if the keep it up i wont have my surgery. so really sharon you are not the only one getting jerked around. good luck lynda

I agree with Susan, if the staff are like this now, what if you have questions after surgery. I know it will slow things down, but maybe you do need to look somewhere else so you can be assured of good aftercare. Good luck.

Good idea to get a different doc. I know someone who went through the Bariatric Treatment Center and had problems with insurance accepting them because they are so overpriced. Good place, but very expensive. The treatment you got was very disrespectful. You are contemplating a major lifestyle change, not just an operation. That is stressful enough without the kind of poor communication you experienced. Some people just don't understand that. I hope your search brings you to someone who will treat you like a person, not just another notch in their surgery belt.
