Medicaid/MediPASS Title XIX Insurance
Hi! First of all, I want to say that this group really ROCKS!! My questions are mainly aimed towards any/all members who have used Medicaid/MediPASS Title XIX Insurance for RNY surgery. What was your experience with them like? What were their pre-requisites for approval for RNY? How long did it take to get approval? What is your overall feeling of their cooperativeness?? Sorry for such a long post, but I am a newbie, just beginning by journey in September 2003. I have chosen Dr. Matt Glas**** of Sartori Hospital for my surgeon, despite the apparently long waiting list, because I have heard so many good things about him as well as his staff. Plus, he is the only surgeon close to my area that does this surgery. I am from Fairbank, IA and please, please feel free to email me! I need all the help I can get! LOL Thank you in advance to any/all responses to this post!!
Hi, i am on title 19 and it didnt take long for them to approve me. it just took my drs office alot of time doing it right. when they finally got it to the office it took the lady a little less then a week to approve it. for the title 19 medipass and medicaid they need your medical records and it has to medically needed. funny thing tho my drs. office just sent a letter and my regular dr. sent a letter. But they also found out i was having back problems again and that meant alot surgeries. and if i had this surgery would help my back majorly. i had back surgery last summer i had two disks removed. they also need to know all the other diets you have tried. one thing i have learned is to call the drs. office and made sure they got all the info they need and offer to get more drs. to write letters if need be. i had asked 5 other drs. to write letters if needed. good luck. lynda

Hi, I have Medicaid/MediPass Title XIX and I didn't have any problems getting approval. It only took a week and a half to get the approval once my doctor's office sent it in. You do need to show a history of dieting and also if you have any comorbidities or other complications related to weight. I have a BMI of 47 and hypertension along with a bunch of other complications (snoring, rashes, ankle and back pain etc.)
So make a list of every diet you can remember and all your aches and pains and you should be fine. The more you can give them the better your chances for a speedy approval. Good Luck!!
