Hi, this is my first time to post. I have surgery scheduled for 10/31 with Dr. Schwartz in Grinnell and I am a college student. It falls in the middle of the term and I was wondering if anybody could tell me how long till I could sit through an hour class. Thanks for the input.
Andrea
I did mine the day after finals this last spring, LOL (The surgery) and I felt that was good. However, if your classes only run an hour at a time, you probably will only need about a week or so off from them. However, Grinnell doesnt recommend you do any driving for 2-3 weeks. But, being asingle mom, I Had to do some driving after about a week. there was just no way around it.
Really, I would say just try class after about a week or so. If you get uncomfortable, then just leave. I am sure your professors will understand.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU in your surgery!

Andrea, Yea, I agree with Julie, about a week or two. I had to go back for a band rehearsal 6 days post-op..(I'm a band director) It was hard, but I had to go. I was back to work within 2 weeks (part-time). I drove about a week out too...once I had stopped taking pain meds. Tell your professors you're having major surgery...they should understand...you don't have to tell them what it is, but tell them. You're young...you'll recover quickly Deb Paul
