Bad news from Mayo

Mom is already back from Mayo. They could not help her. She is at stage 4 cancer right now, with a new tumor on her shoulder (clavicle). I am absolutely devastated and have no idea how to deal. It is so unfair that this great woman has to go through this horrible disease. She is 53 years old and has been fighting breast cancer off and on for the better part of 7 years. She is going to be getting chemo in Iowa City on Friday, they are going to keep fighting it and hopefully stave it off until they find a cure. I finally heard back from my insurance and on a great note, they approved my tummy tuck! It is hard to be excited about it when I am so worried about my mother though. I have to wait until my surgeon receives the letter from the insurance before I can set up a surgery date, but I am hoping to get it done in the beginning of November. I may wait until spring if my mom takes a turn for the worse. I hope I didn't get anyone too down in the dumps, I appreciate all of the emails and well-wishes. It really does help make me feel better. Julie

Oh Julie- I'm so sorry to hear that. There are few words that can provide adequate comfort. My mother-in-law died of pancreatic cancer several years ago, just when we were starting to get close. Gone in 30 days from diagnosis to death. Cherish the time you have with your mother- respect her wishes, spend as much time with her as you can...help her indulge in her whims and you will have no regrets.
